I don’t know about you, but I hate when old sayings are true.
“Everyone ends up marrying their father.” He can’t even paint and yup, I am marrying my father.
“We make plans and God Laughs” This is what I’m working with right now.
We had a plan, it was a perfectly exciting and challenging plan. It was beautiful and we wanted it. Yesterday, one man told us no. Apparently in the Air Force, even if your boss, your bosses boss and your bosses bosses boss, all tell you that you can follow your plan one Major (I have since been calling him Major Asshole) can simply say no.
Last night we allowed ourselves to question and cry, to be upset and try to figure out where God fits into all of this. Which, by the way, trying to understand God’s plan for your life is a joke. If you think He is laughing at the plan you made, imagine the belly laughs over trying to understand His plans. Geepers.
This morning I woke up, and this was the devotional from Sarah Young’s, Jesus Calling.
“In order to hear my voice, you must release all your worries into My care. Entrust to Me everything that concerns you. This clears the way for you to seek My Face unhindered. Let Me free you from fear that is hiding deep inside you. Sit quietly in My Presence, allowing My Light to soak into you and drive out any darkness lodges within you.
Accept each day just as it comes to you, remembering that I am sovereign over your life. Rejoice in this day that I have made, trusting that I am abundantly present in it. Instead of regretting or resenting the way things are, thank Me in all circumstances. Trust Me and don’t be fearful; thank Me and rest in My sovereignty.”
I am scared.
I am uncertain.
I no longer see a clear road ahead.
But I see the Lord shining down on us and I have His hand to cling to.
We are lucky that we have a dream that we want so badly. We are lucky that God gave Desi this passion to pursue what he loves to greatly. Not everyone has a dream, certainly not at 25 either. We are lucky, so we give thanks.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:6-7
Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – Thessalonians 5:18
