surprise, we’re ENGAGED!

This weekend marks an entire month being engaged to the love of my life and I wanted to share with you all the details of our special day.

For those of you who don’t know, Desi proposed August 3rd on our trip to Maui. Maui has always been like a second home for me, I grew up watching brides walk out of the chapel with the bells ringing and it was finally my turn to have my fairytale unfold on the shores of Wailea.

With my entire family and loved ones that feel like family, we set off for a week in our paradise. Our first day was picture perfect, snorkeling hand in hand, throwing the football, splashing in the ocean and even building a sand castle together, we couldn’t ask for more of a post card day.

That evening while my mom, sister and I were getting ready for dinner I all of a sudden found myself alone in our room waiting for everyone when in walks Desi. We walked down to the beach, toes in the sand enjoying the setting sun and reminiscing over our first day back home. Desi stops and says lets take our selfie for the day, and proceeds to take one from every angle. He then takes my shoes out of my hand, takes out a box and a letter and gets down on one knee and read words straight from his heart. Which, me being me proceed to say “you don’t have to stay on your knee that whole time.” Being the good man he is, he ignored me 🙂 We kissed, we laughed, we cried and the whole beach erupted into cheers and congratulations.

Out walks my family and the tears and hugs continue, all the while they had hired a photographer to capture every moment. After a quick wardrobe change, we had a mini engagement session. It was a sweaty, sandy blur of love and sitting here typing it all out, I can’t believe it happened to me.

We had a big family dinner for 10 together at our favorite restaurant, champagne was popped, and toasts were made that will remain in our hearts forever. The love was absolutely tangible. It was the greatest night of our lives and if this is how this adventure began, I can’t wait to see where it takes us.
